I had the pleasure of being invited to Cyprus to teach the workshops A Site-Specific Creative Approach and Mindful Movement through Pilates for the dance students of PERA School of Performing Arts – Girne American University.

A Site-Specific Creative Approach

This workshop explored the process of creating performance work connected to a specific location.

Over a two-week period, students were guided through a flexible, research-led method of developing a short group piece in response to different locations across the PERA campus. Through a series of practical and imaginative tasks, they explored unfamiliar spaces and engaged with the creativity and unpredictability that define site-specific creation. The workshop culminated in a final performance presented as a promenade of four short pieces, inviting audiences to move through the spaces where the works were created.

Mindful Movement through Pilates

Each day began with a morning practice designed to awaken the body and support conditioning through Pilates-based movement and mobility work. These sessions offered a balance of structure and exploration, grounding students in their physicality while preparing them for dance-related practices. The focus was on cultivating core strength and body awareness as tools for supporting self-expression and mindful movement.
