I am Eliane Roumié, an artist of Greek and Syrian descent, born and raised in Athens. My dual heritage has deeply influenced my artistic journey, often placing me in a state of "in-between," with themes of transition and identity becoming central to my work. A blend of dance and Pilates, my professional practice intertwines artistic expression and body conditioning, fostering respect for the body, its function and its liberation. My choreographic approach is an ongoing process of exploration, driven by both theoretical inquiry and embodied research. It involves posing reflective questions and seeking answers through experimentation and discovery, often reflecting on the crucial topics and profound shifts of contemporary life. Key tools include experiential evidence, documentation of the creative process, score-building, and collective feedback, each of which informs and shapes the development of my work.
